Starting your own business often begins with defining your brand. What is its identity? How does it relate to the services you'll provide? For Jarrod Chesser, he combined his passion for restomods with what might be one of the most memorable names for a plumbing company—SO GOOD!

Discovering this "work truck" at Lone Star Throwdown provided an ideal backdrop to appreciate everything Jarrod has achieved. Typically, my February trips from Detroit to Texas mean donning shorts and slathering on sunscreen, but this time I found myself collecting merchandise and hoodies at every turn just to warm up my bare hands for photography. It's clear that the true essence of the show lies in the people and their vehicles, and not even the harshest weather—be it rain, sleet, or snow—can dampen our passion for this industry.
Jarrod and his buddies went through the whole thing frame-up, fixing the utility bed and getting it ready to rep his plumbing company—In 2 Deep.

There we were, shivering in the frigid air, draining the hot chocolate stand dry, cozying up to anyone fortunate enough to own a space heater, and seeking refuge in the pavilion. Perched in the back of someone’s truck bed, I felt the gentle sway of the grounds beneath me, enduring the icy chill because I’m tough and determined to get the job done—and I intend to enjoy every minute of it. As we rounded the corner from the right side of the entrance, I spotted Jarrod and his truck, prepped and ready, just as my eyes landed on my cherished Detroit Steel Wheels. Treating my driver like a convenient shuttle service, I leaped out and dove right into the task at hand.

Jarrod landed an incredibly sweet bargain by picking up this truck. Try not to be too envious, but he stumbled upon it on the roadside for only $800 after it was repossessed. While it wasn't in perfect condition, it certainly had potential and required some repairs. Together with his friends, he tackled the entire project from the ground up, refurbishing the utility bed and prepping it to represent his plumbing business—In 2 Deep.
The truck is running control arms with a wishbone kit from Nfamous Metal for that super tucked stance that is adjusted by an AVS air-ride kit. The slammed frame lays around 20- and 22-inch Detroit Steel D-Town wheels to capture a classic appearance. Cooling off the Texas heat is a Classic Auto Air A/C system, which is an absolute must for this climate.

Jarrod meticulously restored the small block and the interior, installed a Rockford Fosgate audio system, and completed the project with his unwavering dedication and hard work.
Fast forward from 2022 to the delightful days of a mild 2023 LST, where I spotted Jarrod navigating the event with his newly wrapped vehicle—a moving billboard for anyone searching for a stylish plumber. Each year, he teams up with his Nefarious truck club—the group that played a vital role in transforming his truck into a showstopper. We zipped across the venue to my favorite spot for photos and got everything ready. One of his friends tagged along just to tease him about posing in front of the truck for the photoshoot. Now that’s what I call friendship!

Every time I run into Jarrod, it’s a genuine pleasure. I joked with him about his “yes ma’ams” “no ma’ams” and “thank you ma’ams” being a true testament to that Abilene, Texas, Southern charm. As with all the clubs I hang out with at LST, his crew greets me with open arms and whatever is cooking on the grill, one of my little oases in the Montgomery County Fairgrounds.
As I pen this, the 2024 event is just around the bend, and I'm eager to see Jarrod again so we can enjoy each other's company and celebrate the incredible journey he, his friends, and his family have embarked on. It’s never merely about a vehicle; we all understand the depth of passion that fuels these projects. Ultimately, yes, we end up with something impressive to cruise around in, but it’s the memories, the connections, and the challenges faced that truly resonate with us. Jarrod has so much to appreciate in the people around him. Having his ’81 vehicle symbolize his business is a testament to the dedication and character that went into its creation. With a slick wrap that proudly proclaims “In 2 Deep”, the hard work itself is a fantastic reflection of a business owner who acknowledges both the hurdles and the chances that come with delivering quality work.
